The plant is toxic to all mammals, as it contains saponins and small crystals of calcium oxalate. If the flower gets into the mouth of a person or animal, it can cause severe irritation of the mouth and throat. If calcium oxalate gets on the skin, it can cause itching and burning. The sap of the plant also contains proteolytic enzymes that produce histamine, to which some people are allergic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite some danger, the flowers are a popular room decoration. The red plates are so shiny that from a distance they resemble plastic. In addition, there are pink and purple tones, although they are rare. At the same time, the flower does not only harm but also benefits.
